EI-DCT Parked Up For Over 24 Hrs At DUB.

Sat Jan 08, 2005 12:25 am

EI-DCT, delievered 12th December 2004, was parked away from the terminal at DUB for over 24 hours. I spotted it at about 2230 on Wednesday and in the evening of the Thursday. Why is it there?

I flew EI-DCE MAN-DUB-MAN and EI-CSX DUB-CRL-DUB.

Maybe it flew during the day, and is just parked up there at night?

I might be wrong, but even Ryanair should have at least one back-up aircraft, in case one aircraft goes technical.

Simon - nah, I arrived just before 1800 local and departed at 2020, so a few hours before it would have been put to sleep.

Pe@rson, as you would say: A bad and inefficient use of an a/c. Shame on Ryanair  Big grin

Just j/k, it was probably tech or something I would think

Aircraft aren't kept on the ground as spares, they're kept in the network as spares i.e. if one goes tech the schedule can adjust if required. You won't actually see the aircraft sitting there waiting to be called upon!!

So any idea of why it was there?

FR don't have any Airbus aircraft - it only has 732s (which will be gone soon) and 738s. You are thinking of EI. EI-DCT is a 738.

The way things are in Dublin at the moment it was probably clamped. The clampers have got fed up with cars so now they're moving on to aircraft...  Smile
