JetBlue Tail Patterns - How Many?

Sat Jan 08, 2005 4:15 am

What's the total number of jetBlue tail variations? There has to be at least ten, I think.

For those that need visual aids  Smile

Haven't uploaded a shot of "plaid" yet so had to use Anthony Russo's shot of it on approach to JFK instead of one of mine. (Hope you don't mind Anthony)

Does anyone know if the E-190's will have their own tail series, or will they have a mix of the ongoing tails?

And as for this years new tail design? I have an inkling that airbus may have given us a clue into what it might look like. Seems like too much of a coincidence for me, but im just being optimistic and hopeful. http://www.airbus.com/wallpapers/2005/jan_05_800_600.jpg

Wow. That one would look really nice on a JetBlue plane...

It's looks like it's on an aircraft to me. You can see rivets all over the picture. Can anyone that works on A320s confirm if that "Zipper like seam" seen in the left side of the picture if from an A320 tail.

Yes, they do have the "zipper-like" seam as shown in this tail shot:

However, the tail designs on B6 go all-the-way forward and does not have the silver/bare-metal leading edge (is it called a leading edge on the tail fin also?) as shown in the "2005 - The Sky Gets a New Blue" wallpaper.

Personally, I like the 'bubbles' pattern.

I would think the E-190's would start at the beginning. I remember seeing a photo somewhere that showed David Neeleman and the Big Guy over at Embraer with a model B6 E-190 in the background with the first tail design or stripes on it.

Interesting interpretation on the Airbus wallpaper. In another thread the theory is that this is part of the new Airbus house colours that will be revealed in the A380 rollout in 9 days.

But I like the JetBlue thinking as well.  Smile

Obviously this is all speculation. But ignorance is bliss right? Haha. That could also be a concept tail for Virgin America, I dont know. I have not seen any graphics for Virgin America as of yet. If im way off in my assumption feel free to correct me!

I beleive that the new tail design is for the A380.

In this photo you can kind of see that design on the tail:

I would love to see it on a A320 or a E190.

It's only been one year! I believe next month a new livery should be unveiled anyways....? Every anniversary they come out with a new design.

If you check http://www.angelfire.com/dc/douglasjets/JetBlueNew.htm and look at the bottom in February (for their anniversary) N607JB or Beantown Blue will be the first to wear the new design. Hopefully a photographer in TLS or in Hamburg will get a shot of it while it is being made.

I agree...looking at the new rollout photo I think the reference in the wallpaper is on the new A380 and not jetBlue's new tail design.

The website linked to above is the website of Michael J. Carter, who also has quite a few pictures here on a.net - though I don't remember what his username is... http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?emailsearch=lgbguy@charter.net

That site belongs to Michael Carter who works for Southwest Airlines. But yes a jetBlue employee does help give him that information.

I would think the E-190's would start at the beginning.

From what I have been told the E-190s will start with the current tail design for 2005.
