Quite frankly I don't know 717fan. It sure has its logic (and a strong emotional side), but I think that AM
will commit to an all-737NG narrowbody fleet. I also wonder whether the MD
-87's will be replaced by 737-700's with or without winglets (assuming that loads will increase and allowing AM
to deploy those planes to other routes when needed) or by 736's (although AM
is apparently not convinced of their efficiency and performance). Maybe AM
would consider EMB-190's, Bombardier's new C-Class airplane or the 717, but I am thinking that getting more 737-700's is what will eventually happen.
I am sure that if JR
(an all-DC9 carrier) were in a good financial situation, it would consider moving to an all 717 fleet, but at this point in time, their demise looks more probable.
For better or worse, Mexico has stopped being a DC9 heaven and is becoming a 737 paradise.
