Help With Air China Transfer At LHR

Sun Jan 09, 2005 4:55 am

I am travelling from MAN to PEK with BD and CA. If BD can't issue boarding cards for the LHR-PEK sector I will have to pick it up at the flight connections centre at Heathrow. I have looked on the BAA website but can't find any information on which handling agent looks after Air China so does anybody know which desk I should go to. I have been through the FCC many times and never seen an Air China desk so please help!

Thanks in advance

Chris

The handling agent when I traveled on CA in July last year was Swissport (CA938 LHR-PEK). I doubt BD can issue your CA boarding passes or book you your luggage straight through as they are not a member of an alliance, also in this case as your BD flight will arrive at T1 and your CA flight depart from T3 you'll need to allow plenty of time for the transfer.

Thanks Feroze, I had a feeling they were no longer present at LHR.

DAN, last February I flew LHR-FRA (BA) then connected to a MS flight to CAI, then made another MS connection from CAI to JED and I only had to check in once at LHR and my bags arrived at JED. As for the boarding passes, I got them at the boarding gate at FRA and CAI (BA and MS are not alliance members). You just have to make sure you tell the check-in staff at the first airport (in the case of Chris, that would be MAN).

Thanks guyz. Go3Team - I don't think you've ever tried phoning them cause if you had you'd know they never answer!

BMI can actually check your luggage all the way though, but cannot issue you a boarding Pass. Regarding the Handling agent of CA, you should not worry about it, since in the Transfer Area there will be a clear sign with Air China on it.
