AA 777-200 In SAN!

Sun Jan 09, 2005 8:59 am

According to http://www.flytecomm.com/cgi-bin/trackflight:

Airline American
Flight Number 9750
Departure City (Airport) Dallas, TX (DFW)
Departure Time 01/08/2005 07:16 AM
Arrival City (Airport) San Diego, CA (SAN)
Arrival Time 01/08/2005 07:57 AM
Remaining Flight Time 00:00
Aircraft Type Boeing 777-200
Current Altitude 0 feet
Current Groundspeed 0 mph
Flight Status Arrived

Any info on why this is here? Has it departed? Did it park at one of American's gates at Terminal 2?

Thanks,
Alex

PS. Probably the first time a 777 has landed at SAN since BA stopped service to LHR...

Just found this out too:

Airline World Airways
Flight Number 30
Departure City (Airport) Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
Departure Time 01/08/2005 10:43 AM
Arrival City (Airport) San Diego, CA (SAN)
Arrival Time 01/08/2005 11:01 AM
Remaining Flight Time 00:00
Aircraft Type Boeing MD11
Current Altitude 0 feet
Current Groundspeed 0 mph
Flight Status Arrived

Anything on this? A similar flight came in twice last week...

Thanks again,
Alex

I know what you're talking about, but the flight that brought in the Jets was a DL 763 that came in yesterday from JFK, so I don't know what this could be...

With the World Airways MD-11 there it may me some military type charters. Perhapse a full transient line at Miramar.

At any rate, one of the more interesting days at SAN, I suppose... I just wish I could get down there more with my camera... I've already missed things like today's 777 and MD-11, an NW 753 that came in three weeks ago...

Don't you get FedEx DC-10's quite often in SAN? I was there for 3 weeks in 2002 and 3 in 2003 and everytime i went past the airport (about 6 or 7 times) there was one there?

Yeah, the FedEx DC-10 is a scheduled flight. Recently, SAN has seen some FedEx A300/A310s, mostly for the pre/post X-mas rush, and the cargo ramp is always crowded in the morning...

Military charter. We (USN in San Diego) have another group of ships departing soon (happens so often it hardly makes the news anymore). Crying USN has also been running a pilot program to "cross-deck" an entire ship's company (the whole crew) keeping the ship "forward deployed" and just shuttling the crews to/from their "home port." Supposedly saves lots of time and $$$ (though I've seen no specifics). Can't do that for the "big boys" (CV/CG), but it apparently works for the "little guys" (DDG/FFG).

Has it departed?
At this moment it is enroute to ILM as AA9476.

Did it park at one of American's gates at Terminal 2?
It parked at gate 31.

Interesting it went to SAN and not North Island. The weather's been pretty lousy in the area, but I hope someone got pictures!
