Thu Mar 23, 2000 5:13 am

I've been on a Delta Shuttle 727 MANY TIMES (I was on one today). The ride is nice, but the seats are different than mainline. The seats are leather and there is more legroom. The mainline 727's are just like the 737-200 in terms of interior seats, etc. For official info, go to http://www.delta-air.com/travel/maps_guides/aircraft/b-727/

I've flown the Delta 727 from Sarasota/Bradenton to ATL and there was nothing to complain about. It isnt less comfortable than an A-320 or 737NG and the 727 also has a good safety record. So you dont have anything to worry about.

Well my first Delta 727 flight was in 1986, on the New Orleans-Orlando route. About all I can remember was that it was nice and smokey inside, thanks to the smoking section still being used. On that trip, I got on a 72 on MCO-MSY as well. In 1988 I flew on a DL 727 on the 8pm-ish MSY-ATL flight to connect with a Tristar to MCO. 94 it was MSY-MCO once again, and once again it was a Delta 727. Most recently I have flown on a DL 727 between CVG and ATL, and between BNA and ATL. On both of these flights, the aircraft had the new blue seats, new paneling, and much-needed hushkits. The 727 is a safe and reliable aircraft, and you should have a great time flying on it. She won't be around much longer, so enjoy her while she's still here.

I flew on a Delta 727 non-stop from SEA to CVG! A long flight for a narrow-body aircraft. The flight was completly full, and took forever to get airborne off of 34R at SEA. I prefer Delta's newer aircraft (757, 767) because of the in-flight entertainment. The 727 was nice, despite being full. I think that flight has been changed to a 767-300 now!

I've been many times on Delta Shuttle B727, never on the main line.

Many, many, many times. All I can say is that the aircraft has three engines and three pilots, it can't get any safer than that; enjoy the ride...

6 months ago I travelled from SFO-LAX on a Delta 727. It was like a time trip back into the '70s. There was wood panneling(!) on the bulkheads and the light fixtures and signage came straight of "Airplane". It was a good flight that was a welcome change from the 737s I usually take between SFO and LAX. Delta only flies LAX-SFO 1 or 2 times per day, and I think they are still using the 727.

I've been on many DL 727s. If you want to have some fun, ask to sit in the very last row. I did this once. It's kind of cool knowing the engines are just outside -- and a bit loud as well.

Great Experience

I was on one last summer from GSO-ATL (N297WA). It was very clean and comfortable. It was a very good 727 experience for me.

I agree with everyone else. The 727 is a great aircraft, and you will enjoy the service. I looked in my timetable and it looked like delta wasnt operating 727s from dallas to new york. As far as I know that is the latest timetable, but im probably wrong.

well iam afraid i can't deliver a story the kind you want to hear.
I only flew Delta once and it was back in 1994. It was IST to FRA with a 727-200
DL was operating many international flights with the 727 from their FRA hub.

The flight was a very nice one, i love the 727. The plane was very modern inside so that you would hardly guess that its so old. The FA's were good and attentive. I liked the service for such a short flight (2:50 Hrs.).

Enjoy you 727 flight. In a couple of years you might be thrilled to have taken this plane which will be very difficult to fly by then due to airlines retiring them.

Recently flew a DL 727-200 from SLC to Denver. Expect a lower power t/o and a long t/o roll compared to 757s that have much more power for their respective weight.

Most of DLs 727 will be retiring (as some already have been) so you may notice that they still have the wood-grain paneling (a-la 1970s in-vogue decor), otherwise standard issue Delta seats. I felt like there was a bit less legroom than on the 767 I had just gotten off of but its hard to tell. Maybe the large man next to me was making me feel more cramped than I was. Get a look at the 3-place cockpit, not too many of those around anymore. Enjoy it, the 727 will be a cargo bird before long.

Yes, I have. I flew on one three years ago from NY LA Guardia to Washington DC National. The seats were leather blue, I got on that flight a drink and a snack which consisted of an apple, cheese and crackers. Very nice service for a short 40min flight. The flight attendant was pretty. That was 1997, when Delta still had the blue cheatline with a thin red line above.

Delta uses the 727 on the ALB to ATL route, have flown on this route 3 times, it's a smooth safe ride. Included on these routes in the famous DELTA SKY DELI lunches with very good sandwiches.

Delta flies only 727-200 from ALB to ATL and CVG, so I have flown them numerous times. Its "shake, rattle and roll" down runway 1 at ALB. UA 727-200s have nicer interiors.

The 72 may have a long roll on the runway, but it makes up for it in the air.
