Where Does AC 33 Stop?

Mon Jan 10, 2005 5:38 pm

Sorry@if this has been discussed before but where does AC 33 stop? The YVR-SYD run? I know that it used to stop in HNL for the re-fuel and head onto SYD but I see that the SYD-YVR (discussed before is non-stop) but the other way, YVR-SYD has a stop somewhere. The other AC flight stops in HNL but I can't find the 33 stop over destination. Can somebody help me?

AC flight 33 stops in HNL but for refueling only. No passengers disembarking or boarding.

How the hell is AC34 able to run SYD-YVR non-stop? Are we talking about some very heavy load restrictions or is the A343 capable of more than we know of?

I'm not sure if there are any load restrictions on the non-stop flight however AC is reporting that the flights are quite popular. Perhaps once they are in a bit better shape a few more A345 could be in order to get rid of any load restrictions.

Ok, I stand corrected - apparently SYD-YVR is shorter than JFK-JNB which I see that SA does non-stop 3x weekly.

The tech stop is HNL for a quick refuel, with no local boarding/disembarking.

On a side note AC001 the YYZ-NRT non stop will be tech stopping at YVR effective February 1st only on the 767-300. There are contractual issues involving the pilots with respect to crew augmentation and crew rest facilities aboard this aircraft (not applicable to the A340). The flight has been allowed to operate on the 763 because of a "let" by the pilots union which expires on January 31st, with no resolution between flight operations and the company.
Therefore a stop and crew change will occur starting Feb 1st.

By the time it's sorted out, the 340 will be back on the route. What a drag!

AC34 only operates Syd-Yvr nonstop in the northern winter, the jet streams are quite good at this time of year and a nonstop from Aus to Nrth America is just on 12hrs, did Syd-Lax a few weeks back on QF and it was 11hr 55 inflight, very fast indeed for Syd-Lax.
