Indy Air Plans Job Cuts

Tue Jan 11, 2005 4:21 am

Indy announced reduced flying last week, and I wondered if that meant corresponding job cuts.... Apparently it does...

When Indy announced plans to go their own way, they had to end their contract with DL. Did Indy move all those crewmembers from CVG to IAD? That's a lot of expenses, just to be furloughing some of those people!

Whoops. Looks like they were too agressive....

Sorry to hear about employees losing they're jobs, but I always felt they're business plan might have been too agressive. I wanted to see them work, though.

Same here, it was a great concept. Who knows, a little help with fuel prices, and it might work after all. I feel bad for those who moved when their jobs moved, only to lose it a few months later....

It's a shame that it has to happen. It's even worse because I'm sure some of these people were laid off before they became Indy Air...were recalled, and now are going to be laid off again. It sucks.

Tommy- From flying a few ORD-IAD segments, I can tell you that a significant number of DH employees commute from the Chicago area, which would indicate to me that they are holdovers from the UA Express days. I've been on flights with 10 or 15 company employees- although I'm not sure what DH's policy is on deadheading, it seems like that's not a real good way to make money.

Cubs -

I forgot they had a UA base at ORD as well. DH doesn't fly to CVG, and they pulled out of DAY, so the people at the ACA Jet base in CVG who wanted to commute must be hurting....

Hopefully Las Vegas may bring in more traffic for Independence Air

I'll be rooting for them to the bitter end. I've still yet to fly them. Been waiting for cities that I travel to to be added.
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

LAS is and has always been for every airline a high load, low profit route. Just because they are going to operate that roue, doesn't mena that it will be profitable if they charge penny's for the fare. Ok, I don't really mean pennies but, a very low fare.
