are MH's B777's to ADL 2 or 3 class layouts??

is MH's business class similar to CX?

Wasn't MH changing their 777's to just 2 class layouts? and that only the 744's were remaining in 3 class layout, that's what I remember?

The seats were showcased to employees quite some time ago when 9M-MRP was delivered (back in end November) and received a wide-range of feedbacks. Photos were already posted at a Malaysian aviation website at that time but if you noticed, even media press releases were held back for 'some' reason so go figure.

These seats are exactly the same ones as JL's Shell Flat and all B777s will eventually become 2-class. Old configuration aircraft will have its F sold as C cabin.

B744s will be the only a/c in the fleet to have a First Class cabin.

The seats look great, but they are a little narrow. I think that I would prefer SQs Spacebed to this configuration. Oh well, I guess I can't really complain because everytime I have flown business (ok, ok, like twice) I have been upgraded.

SingaporeGirl, I assume they are from the same manufacturer??

AirbusLover, what was the feedback on the new C class cabin? Does it have the new "mood lighting" that was mentioned in the MH press release?

TG will use this same seat, too. I believe it's manufactured by BE Aerospace.

Unfortunately yes the supplier of these seats is B/E Aerospace and like I've already said they are exactly the same design as JL's except the pod may be slightly different the placement of PTV is different.

SQ's Spacebed would be a better product and they are smart enough to have ousted B/E Aerospace during first rounds of shortlisting suppliers for the Spacebed. I believe PIA and Royal Brunei's C class on their refurbished/new planes are the same as SQ.

Chrisrad, there will be mood lightning on revenue flights (i.e. the IFS switches it on).

Some passengers (will) like these seats and some will dislike (unfortunate to say many will complain about the width of the seats and lack of pitch). Mostly taller/bigger pax will find them uncomfortable and will be hard to use the meal tray.

C class on the B744 would be better.

The new C class pitch is not the greatest at 58". There are pax who have already complained about the seat width and comfort. MH is aware of such negative feedback but there is little that can be done at this stage.

The revamped 772s have 42C/247Y.

As of today, there are 3 aircraft operating with the new configuration (9M-MRA/MRP/MRQ). If you're lucky (or unlucky) you might get them on your next trip as the 3 aircraft are already deployed to many of the 772 stations - NRT, HKG, SYD, MEL, BNE, FRA, VIE, ZRH, FCO.

Whats the chance of any type of upgrade on MH??? I have a fully flexable economy ticket from MAN to SYD via KUL of course. Will it ever be worth asking???? i have just joined their frequent flyer scheme.

MAS has a very strict upgrading policy which has its bad and good but being too strict (like MH's policy) is on the whole not too good for her loyal passengers IMHO.

MAS wouldn't even upgrade their Enrich Gold members (even those top on the list that have had the Gold status since the Passage days) to F but rather leave that entire cabin empty while these frequent C class flyers remain in C class. There is nothing much employees can do because this is company policy.

I believe SQ has a similar policy. Myself I prefer if they were a tad bit more flexible, not necessarily upgrading en masse, but just pick out a handful on a flight especially when cabins are sparse, esp J to F and to a lesser extent, Y to J.

So answer is that your chances are slim unless an overbooking situation exists at time of your flight of which then they will upgrade passengers to make sure all seats go out filled.

i was upgraded to F class from C class on blue Enrich FFP card.

IMHO, there is no harm in asking, you may get it or not. you have nothing to lose.

AT least in those pictures, the seat pitch sure doesn't look like 58". Looks more like MH's standard 50" pitch -- which is the only shortcoming of their old product, IMHO -- that and the short legrest you end up with. Otherwise, the old C seats were really really comfy.

Steve - I can say that the new C class pitch at 58" is definitely not enough, more so for anyone above 5' 9".

Ticketor - F Class cabin mods are in progress. Wait till March.

Yawn, Ill just stick to my snuggly wuggly Y class to KUL, just tend to meet more friends via Y class on MH than J/C no one wants to be bothered in Business. but surly non-revving and meeting a baby in a basinet is fun, unfortunately I was put in front row with one last week haha

the F/A love it when I tell them how SQ F/A are no good and not friendly like MH F/A
