Its a bit like having a new baby. The next day yours is alrady old. But I'd guuess Etihad must now have the youngest fleet, with Delta the oldest?

What about ME? They have a very young fleet which they always advertise as the youngest. Their A321s and A332s are all new and they've only had them for a few years, but i'm not sure if its only for 4 and a half years like 9W. Maybe BA or Airxliban have the info?

As for Etihad, I believe that they operate some aircraft that are not new, such as a 767 if I am not mistaken. Ex A6-SUL, now A6-EYZ:

Also, one of their A332s, A6-EYY, shows that an Airbus A330-223 (same type) with the same c/n (238) was with TAM before, although I am not sure if this is only a mistake or if it is true. I haven't looked at the others, but from what I see I doubt they are new.

There was a series of threads on this topic recently with great stats. Can't remember who posted it though, and I can't be arsed to search.

Perhaps you should set a minimum fleet size to qualify though. Otherwise some startup who's taken delivery of their first plane always wins.

Air Arabia must be up there. There A320s are all only a few months old.

So, is what you are saying that the any ex/second hand A330 is old and crap?
Cause even if it is, it wouldn't push the age of a fleet down, because it would just be part of a fleet. No more than pushing the age up with one new one either. What do you want? Day old aircrafts for your annual flight? Me? I'd want a 30+ Tu154 anyday.

Cool down, he never meant it like that. Some (or all?) of the Etihad A330-200s are leased from TAM Brazil, which explains why the aircraft could be seen in the colours of both carriers.

I'd laugh if I saw a TAM a/c at Doha no matter what the flight number.

Now for the oldest mainline fleet of a major airline: it has to be my beloved Iran Air. The entire Boeing 727/737/747 fleet is from 1970s. The newest plane is the A300-605Rs from 1993-94. Geriatrics R us!

I always thought MEA had the youngest fleet and remember them advertising their new A321's and A332's....

Westjet's average fleet age is 10.6 years, since they have a mix of 737-200's and 737-700's. IF they retire their older planes (average age of 27 years), which their CEO mentioned Westjet can accelerate, then the average age of Westjet's fleet drops to 1.6 years. This is the EXACT age of JetBlue's and MEA's fleets. What a coincidence.

Here are a few small airlines from Asia that have fleet ages in months:
Tiger Airways: Approx. 3 months (2 new A320s)
Valuair: Approx. 4 months (3 new A320s)
Jetstar Asia: 2 months (3 new A320s)
Druk Air: 2 months (2 new A319s that replaced BAE146s)

DJ (aka Virgin Blue) have a fleet of 49 737-700/800's and I would say the average age of the fleet is not more than 4 years old. The oldest is abour 6 years old which a majority of them only coming online in the last two years.

Spike,
So, is what you are saying that the any ex/second hand A330 is old and crap?

No, what I am saying is that EY doesn't have the youngest fleet because their A330s are old and not new.

What do you want? Day old aircrafts for your annual flight?

Read my signature, my fav. aircraft is one that is no longer being made, and another one of my favourites is the B722, a classic. I don't know what the hell your problem is, but a user said EY might have the youngest fleet and I am simply showing that it is not the youngest.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned several American regionals who operate very new CRJs/ERJs. With the 328s out of the fleet, I would guess that PSA's fleet is very young, and I know 9E took their first CRJ in April, 2000.
