Delta 763s W/ T7 Interior?

Thu Jan 13, 2005 4:55 am

Does anyone out there know if Delta has any 763s with the 777 style interior? I know that they got some new 763s a few years back, but I'm not sure if they have the new interior.

Yesterday, I flew Delta's 767-300ER on the JFK-SVO route. I fly it quite regularly and I have never seen a 777 interior. So I don't know really. Would would be the point of it? I am also interested to know.

DL does not have any 763s with the 777 interior. The 764's do.

Aeroflot777,
I know that other airlines such as American, Ethiopian Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines have 763s with 777 style interiors. The point of it.... it looks a whole lot nicer and roomier with better lighting and bigger overhead bins.

Too lazy to look up according cabin pictures, but basically a "777" style interior has curved overhead bins, which gives the cabin a modern light appeal.
Typical 767s with 777 interiors (of course still 7 abreast in coach) are the Delta and Continental 764s and Continentals 762s, I am sure interior shots are in the database.
All Delta's 763s don't have 777 interiors, but typical 1980s interiors with square overhead bins and yellowish walls.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

All 767-400s and 767-200/300s ordered after 2000 come with the Boeing Signature Interior.

Would be nice to see DL's 763's retrofitted with the new interior as time goes by...some of those interiors are looking rather tired, that yellow just turns some people off. Get the Mad Dogs with their new interior, and upgrade the widebodies with the 777 style interior..pax will love it.

I agree with you DeltaGuy. Passengers would definitely love it if all Delta widebodies got the new interior.
Thanks for all the great answers from everyone.

I don't think you will see DL investing in converting its 763 interiors to the new 777 type interior. The retrofit package is available from Boeing and other sub-contractors, but I understand the retrofit is quite pricey and since DL has a lot of 763s, it would be a significant capital outlay to refit the walls and bins.

Its a really good idea, however, because the new bins on the 764 are much larger than on the existing 763 and can handle more overhead baggage while making the cabin appear much larger. If DL can refit them as they do their D checks, maybe they can spread the costs out over a period of time to make this a more reasonable expense outlay.

We can hope.

I will have to agree with people here now that I know the difference between the regular interior and the T7 one. Now I most definitely know that the cabin I flew in was the old one. Delta changing the interior to the T7 one would be wise looking from the passenger's point of view. When I flew to Moscow on Monday the flight took 9 hours and the cabin situation was making me very depressed. The cabin looked really old. Another major inconvenience are the overhead bins! They aren't rounded, so they open directly out. It's very stupid because all the coats and other stuff come flying out.
