Dense Fog In BOS Today

Fri Jan 14, 2005 4:08 am

Anyone know whether there are arrival delays in Boston today?
I'm picking up someone who's flying from AMS on NW. NW's website doesn't say anything. Boston Logan's website doesn't say anything. But I work right across the channel on a 7th floor and I can't see the street that's how thick it is. Would surprise me if flights are arriving on time. Thanks in advance for any info.

There's a good chance it's gonna be OK. It's operated by A333 per http://www.nwa.com/cgi-bin/flifo2.pro?flight=%20%2037&day=13JAN&lang=

If it was a DC10-30, it would have been more of a problem...

Any diversions to outline airports, as a result?

The weather in New England today is the same as PHL, BWI, and the DC area had yesterday, namely dense fog, and that was below landing minimums at some airports.

There are diversions going on, but they are too numerous to mention...

I live in the BOS area and looking out my window, I can barely see anything a quarter of a mile away.

Arrival delays of up to 2 hours here, and MHT has 30 to 60 minute delays as well.

JFK has delays and diversions but LGA!WOW! Their delayed on regular days and now they have diversions and delays up to 4 hours. It is really foggy in NYC. I can't even see a block down and that is pretty close. Car traffic is bad so airplanes are probably really backed up(and they are).

A B6 plane diverted to ACY from TPA so maybe a photographer down there can get a picture. And B6's LGA flights are going into Kennedy. Not bad because it's not an airport that they don't serve. It's their home.

Is the A330 in BOS going to be a regular occurence, or is this a substitution for the DC-10?

Everyone is busy today with the weather, I would love to see those dispatch rooms at the airlines HQ right now with high adrelanine running to reschedule everything.

All trans-atlantic flights made it in and out tonight ... neither of my flights were delayed upon arrival nor upon departure because of the fog.

There was an ATC ground delay program into BOS today. Also there was a Cat 1&2 ground stop, meaning only Cat 3 capable equipment could land for a majority of the afternoon. This meant that most of the RJ & prop flights were cancelled or extremely delayed. It was erie to see how quiet the airport was once the fog lifted. Two of our flights had no wait for takeoff, they were cleared for takeoff while taxiing! All big jets today, hardly any regionals. I wonder why the regional carriers don't equip their fleet with better navigation equipment (probably the cost).

I was worried that my flight out on Delta was going to be significantly delayed or cancelled as a result of the fog, but we pushed back early and arrived early. It was definitely eerie taking off into all that fog without being able to see anything out the windows.
