Austral Flt To BRC Had To Return To AEP

Sat Jan 15, 2005 2:01 am

Hi there !
Just read the news on a local online paper, and apparently a flight operated by Austral Lineas Aereas, departed Aeroparque bound for Bariloche, had to burn fuel and return to AEP. Anybody knows what happened?? Type of aircraft??

Greetings!

Estick.

Hola Estick,

From LA NACION:

______________

_______________

Most likely a B737-200, as I flew on last year to BRC. LV-ZTE and -ZYI both experienced minor emergenices last year, the former with the flaps and the latter over a fuel or engine problem if I recall--nothing serious. More worryingly, it was one of their MD-81s that lost a wheel last February (-WPY) and considering the alleged nature of today's incident (landing gear), I hope Austral's maintenance department aren't suffering from a bout of negligence.

Type of aircraft??

Hopefully it wasn't my username!

Saludos,

ZXV

______________

-WPY was the same MD-81 that lost a wheel last year at AEP. I wonder what the hell is wrong with it (asides from being one of the oldest MD-80s in the world...)?

Saludos,
