Hapag Lloyd To Start MUC-CAI Flights

Sat Jan 15, 2005 9:14 am

Hapag Lloyd will commence scheduled flights between Munich (MUC) and Cairo (CAI). Flights will start 1st of February on a twice weekly basis with the introduction of a third flight in May. HF995/996 will be flown using a mixture of B738s and A310s and will compete with MS's 2x weekly flights.

Nice to see another operator on the MUC-CAI route. LH used to fly 3x weekly A320 flights but they were terminated in 2002. Aero Lloyd took over the route with 2x weekly A321s but that airline went bust. Their predecessor, Aero Flight now plan to start flights on the route. They currently have 2x weekly charter flights.

And nice to se the A310 getting a staring role on the Cairo route alongside the 'flavour of the month' 738s.

True Orion737, and its a shame the airline is becoming an all-737 operator. According to FI the recently ordered 738s will replace the remaining A310s (200 and 300). Seems like a big drop in capacity.
