MLA-GZM Helicopter Service To Be Restored In March

A Spanish company, Helicopteros del Sureste won the bid to reinstate the helicopter service between Malta and Gozo Island.

Good news for Gozo, as I felt certain the lack of airlink with Malta would have led to a reduction in tourist numbers holidaying on the island. I suppose this means that the runway extension at Gozo will now not go ahead.

There was talk of allowng aircraft of the Dash8 and ATR to offer direct flights to Italy and the like.

looks like it will be a Bell 412 or a Bell 212 although it is interesting they have a Kamov Ka-32.

though those good old noisy Mi-8s were great  Smile

The runway extension will never happen due to extreme opposition from the locals saying that it will ruin the small island and only serve "rich playboys" quote unquote...
