ATA/SW Reservations Up And Running

Mon Jan 17, 2005 10:11 am

Reservations available through the code share on each airline's respective websites. Of course, it only locks in cities you can travel to from your departure city per the code share.

While it's not the same as having the "real" ATA come into St. Louis, at least I have the option of flying them and not always having to drive 3 hours to IND now.

if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

Uh..."up and running" is a bit of an exaggeration when it comes to ATA's web site. Southwest got it all loaded in and working. ATA did not. Many pairings (that are legitimate code-shares per the Southwest press release) work on the Southwest.com site but don't fare on ATA.com. Moreover, ATA left out the following:

Denver doesn't show Jacksonville and Providence as destinations.

Fort Meyers doesn't show Detroit as a destination. Or Kansas City. Or San Diego.

Honolulu doesn't show Providence.

Minneapolis doesn't show Providence.

LaGuardia doesn't show Kansas City.

San Francisco doesn't show Providence, in addition to Detroit, as a destination.

Sad. But I'm sure someone will fix it this week.

I was impressed that WN already has the ATA cities loaded into its interactive route map.

The connections aren't the greatest (at least to NYC and Boston from Houston), but I would imagine they will be better (and more frequent) in the future.

Funny, I just found that for $602 on priceline for United.

The nice thing about Priceline is that it gives you an across the board idea of many airlines. Southwest, of course, was never listed on there, but you can get the ATA/SW code share flights listed.
