There is a flight BEY-CDG on the 23rd of january, SV7640, scheduled to arrive at CDG1 at 6:40PM . aircraft : B747-200.

As Saudia doesn't operate regularly on BEY-CDG-BEY, it must be a charter or a "special" unscheduled flight, or a cargo : I don't think SV stil operates B742 in a PAX config...or maybe they just made a mistake on the a/c type...  Sad

SV has never had 742s in passenger configurations.

They used to lease them periodically from various airlines. Sometimes wet-leases and sometimes dry-leases.

I know they leased MEA's 3 B742s for a few years.

It's a 4 digit flight number, so it is definately a special flight.

If it is a 742 indeed, then it is a cargo flight unless SV is leasing a passenger 742 for the Hajj season.

Saudi Arabian Cargo does periodically operate cargo flights to Beirut, but they are usually on MD-11s.

Feels like Hajj. Saw a report about those flights and CDG1 a couple months ago. That place didn't really look like a terminal, more like a hangar. Reminded me of HRE airport, although this hangar is newer  Smile

You must be talking about the terminal 3...
I am not very fond of CDG1 but it doesn't definitely look like a hangar !!!

Is it possible the terminal you saw was CDG T3 ? That is definitely a shed, and caters to a lot of North African flights, and also charters. It is quite likely that Hajj charters go from T3 as well.

Hadj flights leave from CDG1 when they are operated by a regular airline, using CDG1 for its "normal" flights, which is the case for SV...

CDG3 caters all kind of flights : North African and others ...
It is used by charter airlines and LCC (EasyJet, Germanwings, Meridiana, etc...).

My mistake, it must have been CDG3. Anyway not a fancy place at all for any kind of passenger to the exception of cattle maybe. A380 related?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

CDG T3 is definitely NOT A380 related ! It has no jetways, pax are boarded by bus, which would take about 2 hours for an A380. So no ! ADP are building the new S3 satellite at CDG2 to take the A380 - it will have 4 or 6 A380 gates with 3 jetways each, 2 for the main deck and 1 for the upper deck - kewl !!
