Ryanair Postpones IFE Rollout

Thu Jan 20, 2005 2:52 am

Great product, pity about the lack of foreign language content.

It seems that Germans and Italians arent interested in US comedies.

Ryanair are postponing the rollout till they find a solution. (or most probably until the supplier cuts their price yet again).

You are 100 times more likely to catch a cold on a flight than an average person!

I assume you're being sarcastic...or how exactly is the portable system going to know where the aeroplane is?

It was a daft idea anyway. Who needs in-flight entertainment on a flight to Dublin or other short sector. It was just another way of ripping off customers, but it looks like there were not enough 'mugs' willing to rent the IFE units. Think of another one MOL.

It seems as if FR customers don't want to pay extra to be entertained.

Any ideas as to why? 7Euro seems like an ok price for a movie, and 5Euro even better.

Having said that, if I had paid .99Euro for my flight, then in comparison, it would seem expensive!

Easyjet are to start trials soon according to the article. Given the slightly different market that Easyjet goes for, do you think that they will have any more success?

I am not overly suprised that this happened. After all, it assumed that everyone spoke or could understand English, but they could not.

I think it would be better if there was the option for other languages, like French, German, Spanish, etc. In addition, films and comedies, etc., should also be in those and other languages and not merely in English, while featuring the best comedies of those other countries.

I should think that IFE in pure English and featuring American films and comedies would be very well suited to an airline like Southwest. There would be very few language problems and everyone would know the comedies.
