HP At YEG

Does anyone know how well HP has been doing at YEG.

I have heard their flights are always fully booked. If so, any possibility to see a double daily to PHX soon.

Couldn't comment on your question since I have no information. Does HP use Mesa (CRJ) for its service to PHX, or is it mainline?

They fly 3 dailies using Mesa (CR900) to LAX, PHX and LAS

I'm pretty sure they use Mesa, because flytecomm isn't showing any HP planes, but they do have a few Mesa's.

YEG is a Mesa station. HP flew out of there back in the 80's with our own metal through YYC.

The flights do very well from what I've seen. The LAX nonstop in particular does good, though it has weight restrictions most of the time.

Our PHX-YEG 6122 was restricted to 62/66 today with 79 pax booked.

Some of the YYC-PHX flights alternate between the CR900 and A319....
I guess despite the fact that AC and WestJet fly to PHX from YYC, HP is obviously doing well there too...

I just wish one day HP flies with its own metal to YEG. It could solve the whole load/weight issue during winter time!

I agree Yegbey01. They are really stretching the limits of the CR9. It should be a bigger plane.

A few months ago, if it wasn't about a year ago, HP flew a few times to YEG.

I'm not sure if those were Charter flights but I remember one of our frequent flight attendants into MEX said she wouldn't fly to MEX as she would be doing YEG. The thing is that those flights were not shown on the system.

It was a few months before HP started its scheduled service to YEG.

Is there a reason why they're still not bothering to switch to mainline A319s to YEG out of LAX, LAS or PHX - esp. if these flights keep getting oversold!?

It's not like in United and United Express (Skywest), where financial troubles require extremely high load factors to break even profit-wise on routes like YEG-DEN and YEG-ORD (hence the CRJs instead of mainline A319s or 737-500 being used), is it?

I only hope HP does so soon.

Once we get some more of our own planes this year and next, I'm sure you'll start to see some CR9's routes switched to mainline.

Isn't it basically a whole bunch A319s and A320s that HP's oredering? I wish HP had stuck to its order for A318s, but apparently it got dropped or something, leaving Frontier the only US carrier to have A318s. The A318 probably would have been a perfect plane capacity-wise to start out with in serving YEG from PHX, LAS and LAX, assuming it has the range to do so without weight restrictions.
