Video Of UPS DC-8 Crosswind Landing Try?

Fri Jan 21, 2005 9:29 am

Many of you must have seen that video clip of a UPS DC-8-70 trying to land at Ontario (runway 8 as I recall) that got hit by a hair-raising gust that just flicked the tail sideways farther than you'd have thought possible. They succeeded in going around, just before or just after touchdown.

Somebody linked it here, maybe 2 or 3 years ago? Can anybody find it?

Not sure if this has that particular one, but this site has a bunch of crosswind landing videos. Go to scene library on the left and click on extreme footage under the "crash bang" heading.

It's also at: http://dc-8.org/video/index.php

The video of the TAP A321 attempting a crosswind landing (and the subsequent go-around) is another good one, and it's at http://www.flightlevel350.com/

Yup, I thought I remembered you were one of the guys that cited it. Thanks for keeping track of it, and the other one too.
