A Cathay Pacific Question

Sun Mar 26, 2000 3:30 am

Last summer, my fiancee flew from Perth-Hong Kong-Vancouver on Cathay Pacific. An interesting thing happened on the Hong Kong to Vancouver leg. The flight attendants come around in the middle of the afternoon (about 2pm), and ask everybody to pull down their blinds on their windows, and everybody's supposed to go to sleep! They did this for several hours. Does anyone know what Cathay Pacific does this? Thanks.

P.S. By the way, it was a oneworld flight. Anyways, she got about 25,000 Canadian Plus points for it (lots of miles when you fly PER-HKG-YVR return!), and she's now a Canadian Plus Club member, with lounges access and business class upgrade. All of only $1400 Canadian!

I don't know why they do this, but this also happened to me on Korean Air Lines and KLM.

It is probably because when you are flying from west to east night goes very quickly so the crew are probably trying to extend available dark hours by having the windows drawn. I flew from LHR-SIN last year and it was 4pm local time before the crew opened the blinds and served breakfast
