Ryanair To Begin STN Service To Dinard

Sun Jan 23, 2005 1:17 am

Ryanair is to begin a summer service from STN to Dinard to complement its daily service from LTN. It will begin on the 18th March. It will depart STN at 1200, arrive Dinard at 1405, leave Dinard at 1430 and arrive into STN at 1435.

It´s a popular destination for Britons - FR expects 70,000 to fly the new service this summer alone - in Northern France, located across the water from St. Malo and not far from Guernsey and Jersey.

Same question, where's Dinard, and what city is it serving? Paris or Bordeaux  Wink/being sarcastic

"....in flying to places nobody knows...."

You may not know it, but Dinard has been one of the great British holiday/wintering spots for nearly 200 years.

The British explorer, Sir Richard Burton, met his (British) wife there on holiday in 1851. But perhaps you don't know who he is, either.

Plus, as Zweed says, there are extraordinary numbers of Brits who are buying/have bought houses in northern and central France, because property is cheaper there.

Why do you think Ryanair flies to all those places in central France?

cheers

Because they were operated by Buzz before FR took them over  Big grin

If Dinard is such a no-go of an area, why do large ferries go from the UK to St Malo, which is only a couple of miles away?

Funny thing is, Zweed and others, if you just type the word "dinard" into Google, it pops up with all the information you could ever need. Much shorter than typing an entire post questioning where it is! And, in fact, it serves the town of Dinard funnily enough, so it's not Paris (Dinard) at all...

We flew there a few years ago (in fact, the thread should be titled "REstarts" rather than just "starts"). Dad (or papa) was in the control tower while we landed and then got the airstairs for us. Mum got all the baggage out and did the passport control. Same thing in reverse when we left! It's a very small airport! Cows grazing within yards of the runway too. Great flight over London on the way back.

There was a thread on this a couple of days ago. Seems they will be flying from both LTN and STN to Dinard daily, so there's obviously demand from people knowledgeable enough to know where it is.

GKirk:

If they weren't making money, they wouldn't be flying 'em. And one thing Ryanair does is make money.
