Passenger 57

Sun Mar 26, 2000 1:32 pm

Another cool airliner-related movie is going to be on tommorrow night on CBS. "Passenger 57".

The usual hijacking....with the special agent (Wesley Snipes) onboard as a passenger..... "always bet on black" !

Lots of shootin'....action.......and of course, taking place on a big jetliner!!

At least all the sequences used in the film fit together, ie it's all L1011 interior/exterior shots that match up.

Typical move involving an aircraft:
B747 waithing at the gate.
Stars board an L1011 interior mock up, pilots sit at the controls of a 767
Pushback - shot of a 737 being pushed back from the gate
Back to the 747 - shot of a 747 on takeoff roll but cuts straight to B707 gear retracting after rotation.

You get the idea, airliner movies are often not techically accurate, but I suppose we notice things more than most people!

Jet Setter--you perfectly described the TV movie about the CP 767-300 which landed on an abandoned runway in Winnipeg!

As for Passenger 57--I really liked it, mainly for the interior sequences, as well as the LDG (Lower Deck Galley) sequences--you have to admit--that LDG exterior door on the L1011 did come in handy on this movie!

From what I've heard, the production company used an actual L1011 (I believe from TWA) to shoot in. Good thing, too, because it really paid off!

Another Movie..

Another movie I'd like to see again is "Die Hard II" in which our hero (Bruce Willis) is in an airport where he takes on the bad guys. Great shootout. Also neat sequence where they have a fistfight on top of the wing of a 747 rolling on the runway....

Professional stunt people! Don't try that at home

I believe that was shot at the old Stapleton in Denver??

Both Passenger 57 and Die Hard II are good movies. I own both of them on DVD.

I have to agree with Jet Setter about most movies involving planes. Glad to see the people who made Passenger 57 were able to get all teh shots to be of a L1011.
