Abort Air Canada Scheme?

Tue Jan 25, 2005 3:47 am

Is there any chance the newly-introduced Air Canada livery can be aborted or revised? I think it is unattractive and a waste of money.

If they get enough bad reviews or someone high-up says it is not the best they could go back to the old but then that would cost more money so they would have to leave those planes what they are and not repaint anymore. Overtime they could repaint them but it would be easier to just leave them.

I didn't like it either at first, but when you see it up close, it actually looks good. Everybody said the same thing when AC changed to the white scheme from the traditional red and white.

I have to say the new Air Canada scheme is one of the most unimaginative I have seen. With all the fanfare at its' unveiling I was left asking what all the fuss was about.

When I first saw pictures of it, I thought it was OK.

Last week in LHR, I saw the plane "live" and the colour is really disappointing ! Looks more like a low cost coloursheme.

Anyway, the whole thing is a real loss of money. There was absolutely no need to change the old livery.

It's definitely original. Let's wait and see how the 319/320/321 fleet (the bulk of the AC fleet) look in the new scheme.

As with all new schemes, this new AC scheme is starting to grow on me.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Contact customer service, I'm sure they'll consider it.  Big grin

I think the scheme looks pretty good, especially in low light conditions.

What do you want? Pretty rainbows splashed all over the fuselage!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I fail to see how an all white airplane is original. The tail looks good, I admit, but the rest of the airplane is really disappointing. They didn't even put color on the bleedin' engines.

N766UA, the fuselage is not white. I think it's something like a pale metallic blue.
I'm not really fond of the new look either, but I doubt they will abort it. At this point, too much money has been spent on it for advertisements, brochures, etc to just give it up and look for something else.
I have seen the new colors on a few occasions, and the tail is ok, and sometimes when you see it in a different light, it has a new definition, but overall, it's not great.

I wish that was the case. The latest shot i saw in the database was under cloudy skies and it really brought out a pukey blue/green color. I'm really not a fan of it.

Some of you people have too little going on in your lives if you whine about color schemes. It's not what defines an airline for me. I can think of some pretty good airlines with boring livery.

Hey, that's why we come to a.net, to whine about color schemes all we want.  Big thumbs up

But back on topic, if I see another euro-white livery come out, I think I am going to vomit. And don't tell me it is not euro-white just because it looks like someone threw up on it and they couldn't clean it all off. And they didn't even paint the winglets! Disgusting.

The livery is great.

The airplane is metallic white. Most of the people I have spoken to in the spotting community seem to thoroughly enjoy it on the Airbus A340, but not as much on the 767

It's the colour of a glacier. Very Canadian. I'm a big fan, and can't wait to see it on the narrow bodies and the A330!

I thought glaciers were white? As in euro-white. As in boring.

And don't glaciers move incredibly slow? Not the image I would thing AC would want to be getting out there.

How do you "thoroughly enjoy" a livery? Is touching involved?  Smile

Nope,

Very thick glaciers have a greenish hue to them. The shine is very hard to capture on camera. As demonstrated in this shameless plug:

The paint has a very nice shine to it like NW and VS. Very cool IMO. When we'll see a fleet of them, the effect will be quite nice. Still looks like "Diet Zoom" though.

In theory. I'm yet to see any hint of blue on it, however. I guess if it's in the right light at the right time of month with the right cloud cover maybe then I can see it, but apart from that what's the bloody point. Why blue anyway?

Guess I don't travel up to Canada enough to see the glaciers.  Smile

Now, does that red X have anything to do with the greenish hue.  Laugh out loud

another nice one that shows the blue hue; the paint really reacts to diffrerent exposures, moreso than others:

Since all the Star Alliance planes have the engines painted in the normal livery colour. I wonder if the next Star livery on an AC plane will have the metallic look engines - then you'll really be able to tell the difference.

I actually like it after taking another look. However I think it would be cool if maybe they had the maple leaf kind of wrapping the fuselage kind of like these but with AC livery.

After decades of being mostly conservative, at least Asian airlines are giving aviation these days a much needed happy look with those colorful designs.

The Air Canada scheme is good for security. If all airplanes were this incredibly boring and unattractive, I would never go anywhere near an airport  Laugh out loud

The tail is ugly too, looks like it's dirty. Bring back the 2-tone red colors!
