UA 9/11 Flight Attendant Tribute Video

Tue Jan 25, 2005 2:00 pm

Hello all,

I got this emailed to me by a United flight attendant friend of mine. It's a tribute video to the flight attendants lost on 9/11, set to more of an upbeat tone with UA cabin crew/shots at BOS.

http://www.njdoran.com/flashes/Friendlyskies.htm

It took about 7-10 minutes to load for me (then again, I still use dial-up), but I think it's worth it. I thought I'd share it here.

Enjoy! And if it's already been brought to the attention of this forum, well, enjoy again!

It's an entirely different kind of flying; all together.

Thanks for the post. It is a nice video, but my honest opinion is it is a poor tribute due to the song. Obviously, it is an airliner song. But it is too upbeat for it to be a tribute to those who died on 9/11

Was this tribute made before or after United decided NOT to pay the pilots for flights 93 and 175, on the basis that they did not complete them?

That was the worst tribute I have ever seen. Whoever made that is either crazy or thought they were having a retirement party and not memorializing those lost on that day.

Don't be so harsh. The clip portrays the fun & comraderie that the F/As at UAL have. They just happened to have dedicated the clip to the memory of their lost friends, while honorong their current co-workers too. Remembering them as they were- in the good times doing what they loved to do- is the best way! And this clip illustrates that well.

Scanorama-They sure didn't...in fact, the families were on Good Morning America about a year after 9/11, and they mentioned that they didn't...

Entry level Flash production courses should include a few hours on common decency/sense. Some people just don't understand the meaning of the word "appropriate".

I wouldn't worry about that due to the fact that those people have or will be compensated with more than enough money unlike victims in previous terrorist attacks. Although I do see your point.

As someone who was a co-worker with those F/A's I think it was a fine tribute. It's been over three years, we can stop being gloomy and remember the good time we had with those lost not just agonize over the way they died.

That being said, yes this does look like a first-timer attempt at flash video, but I recognize the heartfelt thought more than the less-than-perfect skill.

I guess it is the thought that counts, though I have to agree with others that have expressed concern about the light spin that has been put on this.

It seems to me the video was not intended as a tribute for 9/11, but rather as a showcase for UA F/As. I think the 9/11 rememberence part was just kind of in there. If the sole purpose, however, was as a 9/11 tribute, then it's in poor taste and badly done.

I personally think it was well done. We should never forget what happened that day, but as the old cliche' goes, we must move on. I like the approach that the tributes celebrated thier lives instead of dwelling on thier deaths.

I liked it very much.  Big thumbs up

Ehh it's lighthearted, nothing wrong with that. Not every tribute is meant to make you tear up....

C'mon guys. You are all way to critical. I mean who said Spielberg made that? Jeez, some of you guys need to LIGHTEN up please

Awesome tribute and makes me remember the fact that even though terrorism is in the fore front of all our minds, there are people who make it a living doing the same thing those people were doing when they lost their lives that tragic day.

It was a song saying lets keep on truckin and to hell with those bastards who want to bring down a free spiritual society. I hope Osama see that clip and fricken hates it. I hope anyone who isn't one of those types see that clip and says, UP YOURS Osama you won't bring us down. Biatch!

Some of the lyrics were in bad taste. "You gotta go through hell before you can get to heaven?" And what about the flight attendant who says bye to everyone? That can be misunderstood.

I think some of you are being to critical and over analyzing it.
>Some of the lyrics were in bad taste. "You gotta go through hell before you can get to heaven?" >
What's in bad taste about it? It's saying life isn't always easy, but the payoff can be pretty sweet. I don't see what the big deal is...

>And what about the flight attendant who says bye to everyone? That can be misunderstood.>
I can kind of see where your coming from, but again, it's just a simple goodbye. Something that we all say everyday, and maybe take for granted. Again, I don't see what the problem is...

Western A318 i cant agree more
Longbowpilot,
welcome to my Resp. users list!

I thought the video was a little too upbeat but at least it looks at rememvering the lost for what they did and not what they did not get to do.
