AeroAcapulco New Start Up In Mexico

Tue Jan 25, 2005 2:10 pm

Recently a new mexican start up applied to the SCT/DGAC for traffic rights in Mexico. Apparently the airline will mainly be flying out from MEX and ACA to different points within the country. They will start with a sole MD-DC10! And I've been told they are currently hiring Dc10 rated pilots and more staff.

No more information given so far! Hope they get off the ground! Would be great to see the Dc10 back!

One more that I hope doesn't stay in paper! But a sole DC-10? That sucks! Old, big, and having 1 on the fleet would be very expensive!

And the name, Aeroacapulco? Mexican's do not break their head finding airline names... like Aeronacional! HAHAHA!

Well, if it's a new airline, I welcome it! Good luck!

Hey Leo,

Apparently everything is looking good! They have hired 4 ex.AM retired captains and they are hiring more people. They inted to start with a sole Dc10 and recently I've been they have plans for a MD11 or a B747. I ignore who is behind all this but looks like they have the $$$ for such a start up. If they start I hope they don't fail on their attempt taking into consideration the big fleet!

Seeing the equipment they are trying to get their hands on, it appears they are going to do long-haul.

What I find interesting, as AR385 mentions, is the choice of equipment. Ghost mentioned in his opening post that they want to fly domestic routes from MEX and ACA but the choice of equipment would suggest they intend to operate long-haul flights.

Hopefully more information will become available soon so that we can figure out what these guys are up to.

Cheers.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

This is very interesting, as one operating with one large aircraft to start and airline would not be profitable, would it? In Mexico is it different? I would think flying a longhaul aircraft on short routes would just drain all the money out of the airline but I could be wrong. But if this Aeroacapulco does in fact succeed it will be great for Mexico as a country.

Ok, here's some more information I've been recently given. The people behind this project are a group of travel agents. Their HD are located in la Zona Rosa at Mexico City and they are requesting pilots with the minimum capacity of Dc10 or B767 but they say they want to start with a B747-SP and a L1011, by November the have plans to switch the first two to a sole MD11 and a B747-400.

And finally some info on routes, as AR385 said they are going long haul(!), they want to land in MAD, CDG, FCO and TLV.

I still can't believe this! A first of its kind start up in Mexico which I hope they make it! It would be our first B747! All routes sound perfect except for TLV but who knows!

Wow, a Lockheed Tri-Star in MEX... now that would be awesome! I am sorry to be a bit skeptical but I will believe it when I see AeroAcapulco flying. In any case, I wish these agents good luck. Ghost, do not forget to post additional info as you receive it.

Those are good news, a 747 with mexican flag on it, like ghost said, the routes look good, about TLV, maybe it will work, you´ll get surprised of all the people from the middle east that lives in Mexico (not only DF), but we will have to wait.

Have there been any recent articles on them in the Mexican press? Do they have a corporate website?

Yeap we hopefully see again a schedule Tristar or B747SP in MEX! That would be great! As soon as I have more information I'll let you know. All I know is what I said above and that the airline went to ASPA looking for rated Dc10/767s pilots.

No recent articles so far. This new project just started running two weeks ago but they have been working more than that. They say they want to start flying on March. No corporate website so far.

Susumu,

MX and AM will not merge. They will be sold as a hole and single group but brands will stay. Similar to what AF did with KL.

As for their feeders, AeroCaribe and Aerolitoral will do merged. A new airline will come up from these two or QA brand will be the one staying in case they decide to keep one. They will start operations on March 1st and they will fly 10 ex.MX F100, 10 additional F100 are coming from another source, 09 Dc9s and 5 EMBRAER 145s. Been told that they will take the 25 options left with Embraer for more EMB145.
