United New Colors - How Many Planes?

Wed Jan 26, 2005 8:16 am

Greetings to all!!

I just purchased a ticket on United (and Aloha) to visit a friend of mine in Hilo, Hawai'i. I will be flying a SkyWest EM2 SAN-LAX, a 767-300 LAX-HNL, and an Aloha 737 (to be determined) HNL-ITO. In reverse, Aloha 737 ITO-HNL, 777-222 HNL-SFO, and a 757-222 SFO-SAN.

I realize I might have a chance on the return trip to fly in the new United colors, but I haven't seen any shots of 767's in the new colors. Are there any? And how is the progress of the re-painting coming? I know it will take quite a while, but are there any numbers floating around?

And United people, are there any 777's flying HNL-SFO or -LAX?

Thanks!!

Thanks to all!! I guess my chances really are best SFO-SAN...

Any reason for the large number of 737's and 757's but not others? I would assume widebodies = longer times between C and D checks...is this correct?

 Big thumbs up

Beyond that, it just happens to be the timing. I have not seen a UA Airbus in the new colors yet

If I remember correctly no A320s will receive the new paint for a long time due to none needing a major check.

All of the A320's that need checks are coming out TED-ified. Once the Ted fleet is finished, they will start going into UA n/c.

I am pretty sure that UA has a 747 flying to HNL from SFO? I would have taken that!

Wonder why UA didn't keep the "Working Together" titles on 2377...

Either way, 775 & 777 are both International configs, so they never fly to HNL. HNL only gets 772As I believe (at least from the states).
