Well, it's bookable on nwa.com...

This is definitely a head-scratcher. There was never any announcement for this service which begins in 3 and 1/2 weeks. Looking further ahead, it looks like the weekend nonstop ends in April. Maybe it's just for the spring break travel season? As far as I know, NWA has no intention of doing a build-up in CMH like they've done in MKE and IND, so I don't think that has anything to do with it. The only one they're really competing against is USAirways' weekend nonstop service to MCO. This is welcomed, but definitely odd.

Just an FYI there are numerous large cruise ships sailing out of Port Canaveral which is only a hour drive from MCO, I am sure NW has committed seats to several cruise lines so this is a sure sell.

NW is doing the same thing with IND-MIA, Sat only, only flying for about 7 weeks. They made no announcement of that route either. This could be in conjunction with all-inclusive packages and cruise ships. Either way I'm really surprised they don't issue press releases for these.

A travel agent friend of mine says these flights are almost all sold out already, except for a few in April.

DL and WN both. US flies CMH-MCO Sat. only, also.

Looks like April 2nd is the last Saturday it flies, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Boeing757/767

Your travel agent friend isnt far off.

The first flight leaving february 19 is overbooked by 6 in the back but still has 15 FC seats open (1 fully booked)

The flight that would come back later for those who are going for the week, the 26FEB is still has 14 seats open in back and all first class seats open.

Will that NW CMH-MCO be a DC-9 flight? No, I do not think so. Because, if it has 16 FC seats (15 seats open, 1 fully booked as Burnsie28 mentioned above), it must be A320 or A319 aircraft.

as Favre said, DC-9's do have 16 First class seats. Only the DC-9-10 had less (14 seats) now all NW mainline have a minimum of 16 FC seats. Even the Avro's have 16 FC seats.

BTW, two weeks ago I was spotting at CMH and I happened to present for an evening t/o of a NW 757 in the new livery from 28L.

Anyone know what that was all about? Could this be a feeder for one of the aforementioned cruises?

It's a smart move on their part. Columbus is the largest city in Ohio and of course home to Ohio State. Other colleges and universities are nearby and all of those seats will be gone. If they can logistically pull it off, adding another flight on Sundays might fill up seats, too. I am surprised that even after America West pulling out that some carriers haven't come in with some other/increased point to point service to Florida, New York, Los Angeles, etc. Northwest probably won't expand in Columbus like they did in Milwaukee or Indianapolis, but you can't rule out the possibility of them exploring some options, albeit limited. After all, Columbus -is- in the Heartland and this is a good way for them to build up some business.

Your lucky, ATLhomeCMH. You saw NW 757 at CMH! Did you take a picture of it?

757 flights so far: United, Delta, America West, TWA, and now NWA. Any more?

Saturday, January 22:
NW493, 752 supposed to go TPA-DTW diverted to CMH because of temporary closure of DTW control tower.

Ok thanks. That was the one.  Smile

I saw it starting its climbout from 28L, and I was like, "A NW757 at CMH?! What the f$#k?!?!"
