USAirways A320

Fri Jan 22, 1999 9:19 am

I just went on USAirways website and looked at flights from Philadelphia to Tampa on Feb. 7 and it says that they use an A320 on one flight. I didn't think they got these yet. If so when did they start.

I just checked the OAG Pocket Flight Guide for February, and US Airways flights 1505, 2023, and 1717 from Philadelphia to Tampa are all operated with an A319. I didn't see an A320 listed.

If you haven't done so, check out the Airbus Industrie website. In the 'news'
section there is a nice blurb on USAirways & the A319, with some good pix,
including an interior shot.

They may also give a timetable for delivery of various Airbus types. From what
I recall, USAirways is concentrating on the A319, and A320 orders are smaller.

I live near Philadelphia so I fly from there alot. The last time I flew on an Airbus A320 was about 6 or 7 months ago from Philadelphia to Kansas City. It was rare because they usually use 737-200's on that route.

In 1999, US Airways is to receive 24 A319s and 6 A320s.

They must have just received one of their A320s because an A320 shows up as doing a PHL - LAX - CLT - PHL daily circuit begining in early February 1999. It is replacing a 757 on this route.

Maybe it was a trial run, early delivery, or something of that sort, but i am positive that it was an A320. I was suprised to see it myself. I am sure because on the emergency card on the seat-back pocket it said Airbus A320.
