no, except that 3K will announce the new routes to JKT,SHA,MNL and SUB in the next few weeks.

The was talk in that AO might do the routes you are talking about. However the only thing to suggest that was that QF was looking at getting the AO crews to travel to destinations more than 4 timezones away, that their current contracts stipulate. QF however has refuted claims that AO will do such routes though. So who knows.

Is JQ considering taking over QF unprofitable routes to New Zealand. Or start new flights to the Pacific Islands in competition with DJ?

I recently went to a social gathering with various QF persons. A few airport manages where there and they where talking about Qantas mainline was pulling out of christchurch, NZ , with all flight to that port being operated by thier NZ subsidiary JetConnect (in QF colours), they also mentioned Australian AIrlines cabin crew EBA would be changed by management to allow that company to take over QFs flights Sydney to Honolulu and that they would also get 3 747.300 aircraft to operate the sydney to Bombay sector, aparently they are losing huge money on the route as they have to block out a large number of seats to enable the aircraft to operate non-stop to Bombay, of course Geoff Dixon is not confirming or denying these stories, as usual everything is top secret at QANTAS.

Not to dispute what you heard, but SYD-BOM is only 5482nm, about 1000nm less than the 747-300's operating range. Why would they have to block off so many seats that it would make the flights unprofitable if the route is well within range?

Qantas are in dispuet with the FAAA over cabin crew rest on the sydney to bombay sectors as present they are trialling a system where they block of entire rows in blocks of 4 to enable crew to get hoizontal rest. The forward Y class cabin is presently being blocked off for this purpose. The airport managers have consistently stated that the flights are not able to operate at 100per cent capacity pax load so usually E zone gets a large section blocked off. The flight time is around 12hours and with heavy cargo traffic they said the aircraft has range limitations. Im not sure of the exact dynamics of the range of the aircraft or the companies complete limitations, we do know the flights lose huge money and they want Australian Airlines to take the flights as they operate on a much lower cost basis. Of course the management line on this is denial.
