SN Brussel New Business Class Seat

Mon Jan 31, 2005 8:12 pm

SN recently lower their frequencies with to certain destination with their 332.
They are doing inspection on their plane.

But I've heard rumors that they plane to install Cabin style seat (like Emirates First class) in their Business class.

Can anyone confirm that rumor ?

Just an FYI they have A330-300s.

I can confirm the piece of news concerning a new lie-flat business class seat. However, don't expect something as fancy as EK 1st class: the new seat will be similar to those offered by AF, CX, LH or MH.

Another debate that is going on at SN is whether the A330s will be retroffited with PTVs in Y. The tradeoff is clearly between greater passenger satisfaction vs. increased weight + initial capital expenditure.

I hope that whatever upgrades SN makes in their airplanes help them get more passengers. I had the chance to fly SN in July and, even though it was a short flight, my experience was outstanding. I too hope they start flights across the Atlantic soon, although I acknowledge this is not likely in the near future. Go SN!
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Any move toward PTV across the cabin is certainly a good one. Not that it would make much of a difference, but nowadays it starts to make a bad difference when it's not there.

As far a going crossing the Atlantic is concerned, I wouldn't think of it in the near or even medium term. The codeshare with AA works well according to what I hear and read. Transatlantic is very competitive on price in economy and service in other classes.

The only way I see SN metal flying across the pond would be if they have the spare metal for a reason or another, can't fly it to Africa, and decide together with AA to use it there for a while as a substitute for one of AA's 763s. Mind the capacity gap. Thus highly unlikely.

Unless of course they start some kind of limited and/or seasonal service to Canada or Florida for some reason. Also unlikely though.
I want the European Union flag on airliners.net!

Whatever decision they make concerning any investment, it will be a well-thought one. Don't expect anything too fancy from them.

I've had the opportunity to be one their pax last year, and I was very pleased. A very friendly crew and full service on FCO-BRU (a meal, several drinks including warm, some chocolates,...).

As a Belgian I can only hope they will decide to fly to America and Asia someday. But, on a financial level, that time is still far far away I think. They won't fly somewhere because it's good for their image, they'll only do it if there's some serious revenue to catch. And so it should be.

Greetings,
Ivan
