TradeWinds To Fly MIA-BOG

Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:41 am

TradeWinds, an all-cargo airline, has applied with the US DOT to fly thrice weekly between Miami and Bogota starting March 1, 2005. DOT application can be viewed here:

Good news: BOG is an important cargo hub in LatAm, and this will further consolidate its position. Any idea what type of a/c they will use?

Sorry, yes, should have put that. They'll use their 747-200. How many cargo carriers does this make on MIA-BOG?

Nice to hear BOG receive an extra cargo carrier, but this airline will decreas more and more the rates on this segment. By the way isn´t BOG the biggest CargoAirport in SouthAmerica?

I've already seen the 747 coming from Bogota, it might have been a proving flight. I thought it was already flying to South America.

By any chance are they also flying for Florida West?

Not for this operation. This is part of a broader strategy for TradeWinds to go into scheduled service.

There is a lot of cargo service in BOG, El Dorado is the busiest cargo airport in Latin America and there are several flights daily on the BOG-MIA route: among them: Tampa, Gemini, LAS, Atlas, Centurion, Challenge, UPS, (I don't know if the Fedex and DHL planes fly this route as well); they use 727s, 757s, 767s, 747s, DC-8s but mainly DC10s

Just one doubt... Isn't Mexico the busiest?

TACAA320: Maybe he mean South America. You mean Mexico City right?
By the way anyone know some of UPS destinations from MIA? What about Fed Ex and DHL?

Oh yes. Mexico City.

I think he was talking about Latin not only South America. Because my doubt is in reference to Latin America anyway.

Thanks FlyMIA

There are several flights daily on the BOG-MIA route, among them: ... LAS ...

LAS doesn't fly between Bogota and Miami. It appears on their route map because of commercial agreements with, among others, Martinair.

Tampa Cargo is currently the only Colombian cargo-airline [not Bogota based for the record] flying effectively between Bogota and Miami, and the only one capable of doing so. The other local airlines are diper-talks.

Hola Federico

I'm not sure, but I think some of those Cielos del Peru DC-10s are flying for Lineas Aereas Suramericanas -LAS.
