Frontier: "You Will Be Flying On The Wolf!"

Fri Feb 04, 2005 8:26 am

I think this is an absolutely great feature.

I just checked in online for tomorrow morning's F9 flight 721 DCA-DEN, and, at the completion of checkin, it displayed an image of the tail of the A319 I'll be flying on along with "You will be flying on the Wolf!".

I think this is one of those little details that makes F9 a very pleasant airline to do business with.

Actually, I would expect to be on a "Mountain Goat" if I was you. Aircraft N921FR to be exact. The system always says "Wolf" (aircraft 901) as a generic response until it gets the actual information.

Sweet deal. What a good marketing idea. Fly them all! Too bad there aren't many other airlines that could make this work for the common person other than B6. At least off the top of my head...

AWESOME!!!... That is a pretty cool feature. I would always like to know what aircraft I'm flying on.

Heh I never really would have known, either. Its hard to see the tailplane from the boarding area down at gate 10.

I would have flown all the way to DEN then deboarded and wondered what happened.  Laugh out loud

At F9's gate at SEA I have seen on the electronic gate sign say "Watch out
you have Grace the Swan or Karl the Wolf on your tail!" Would be nice to see
some of those tails at RDU on a daily basis.

Oh it's always fun making the boarding announcements "Ladies and gentlemen, you'll be flying on a Mountain Goat this afternoon to Denver." The kids love it.

The f/a's also announce the tail symbol as part of the preflight announcements as well if the display board or gate agents haven't...

They also put the same picture from the tail on the winglets. Therefore, you will be able to see the tail animal from your seat. I don't remember them announcing the animal on my tail at either DEN or FLL on my recent flights, however. I did like the new LiveTV movie channels. I had a blast watching "Pirates of the Caribbean" on a DEN-FLL flight, especially since I was taking a Caribbean cruise!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This must be a pretty recent development. I was on F9 about two weeks ago and didn't experience any of this.
I think it's a great idea. I wonder how many pax actually fly Frontier and never realize that there is a different animal on each of their planes, or that there is even an animal at all back there! (If pax don't know how many engines a plane has when they fly.....)
I was at IAH yesterday and saw the Mustang Horse A319 there. Just beautiful!

I like the idea of you knowing what "animal" your flying. I think jetblue should do something like this since I was curious about it when I was booking my flight. Big grin

Having flown MDW-DEN over a dozen times on the A318/19s, I've observed what passengers really notice are the animal portraits on the inboard side of the wing fences, which match the tail portrait. On one flight in an A319, the wing fence was blank for some reason and the lady in the window seat was quite disappointed!

Leelaw-

We had a catering truck at one of the airports (MCO I think??) that didn't quite clear the wing tip and smushed it. The new winglets are blank and that is probably what happened.

I will now go out of my way to pick Frontier for all my future travel needs, thanks to the Wolf!!

Wait, first they need to service somewhere near RDU. I remember a lot of "chatter", even from some F9 crew that it was coming soon; however, that was well over a year ago!

Actually the tail thing is a unique idea, adds a little personality to their marketing efforts with a lot more variety of charactors than just a mysterious guy named TED.
