Airlines And MD87

Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:29 pm

I've just read an article about the MD87 and I was wondering how many airlines already operate the type. In Europe for sure Iberia and SAS have some in their fleet, but how about the others?

MD80BOY,

Off the top of my head, the MD87 is currently being operated by:

AeroMexico (Mexico)
Allegiant Air (USA)
Austrian (Austria)
Iberia (Spain)
JAL Domestic (Japan)
SAS (Scandinavia)

I'm also pretty sure that the MGM Mirage Group in the USA operate one in corporate configuration.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Titch

AFAIK, OS has withdrawn their last MD-87 at the end of December 2004, with the only Mad Dogs remaining in service in Austria being a few MD-82/83 for charter service.

The MGM just recently sold their Corporate MD87, there is also another Corporate MD87 located out of Seattle.

Austrian are about to retire all of its MD 80s by July. Some are already, with several MD-87 parked at the OS-Hangar waiting for a new customer.

AY retired theirs (I guess they sold them to Argentina or Guatemala).

FoxDelta,

Spanair used to operate the MD-87. I'm pretty sure their last one was returned to its lessor in October 2004.
