Can One Still Sit In The Jumpseat On Singapore?

Sun Feb 06, 2005 6:17 am

I have two questions to ask:

1. Can a passenger still sit in the jumpseat on Singapore airlines? Someone who is not a member wanted me to ask. He is 14 and is travelling to India on Singapore from LAX.

2. Another question I have, albeit a non-av question: Can this kid speak on the forums without having to pay for a membership? He says he can't partake on the forums without paying. But I told him that I don't pay and I still can make posts on the forum.

To answer your second question you need to pay a $25(I believe) one time fee to be a regular member, I paid mine about a year ago. But if you want to be an elite member you have to pay a monthly fee.

So no you cannot participate in the forums withou paying. The reason you didn't pay was because a.net used to have an ope free membership to anyone who wnated to join but they changed that a while ago.

No, and I doubt that it was ever possible for non SQ staff.

No, you have to sign up either as a First Class Member (USD 5 fee per month) or as a Premium Member (USD 25 fee nonrecurring).

I got to sit in the jumpseat once on SQ6 from SIN-TPE, but only while the aircraft was inflight. Talked to the pilots for almost 45 minutes!

I guess I was grandfathered in on A.net. Been a member and poster on the forums since 1999. Never paid anything.

Offically No.But a request could be made to the Crew.

No.You need to pay unless you joined up many moons ago.

With regards to the jumpseat request, it really depends on the Captain in command. If he is an uptight by-the-book-no-nonsense kind, chances are pretty slim.

By company rules, the official answer is "NO".

As a SQ captain, I can tell you don't even bother. You're wasting your time. The company and the CAAS are very strict about cockpit admission in flight.

I also never need to pay, since I joined as a member.
I think if you join now you need to pay.
