(Help!) I Need To Go To Atlanta On April 7th!

Tue Mar 28, 2000 2:40 pm

If anyone knows any really low cost deals from O'Hare or Midway to Atlanta on April 7th (roundtrip back the next day or later that day), please let me know (the lowest I've got is USAirways at $164).

American

I checked their site, and the cheapest thing I found was $198... where'd the $159 come from?

Use April 7th as departure date and April 8th as return.

Using AirTran's website, I found $151.

Folks, remember, buying a ticket directly from the carrier and an online travel service will usually give you two different fares. The only rule is that you must shop around.

Try America West. They will treat you well and their prices are very reasonable. They have a nice new fleet.

Using cheaptickets.com, I came up with $159 on American, $164 on US Airways,

Pay the extra $5, avoid the AA hegemony and support USAirways!

Why I Might Go With Barnaby's Suggestion

Tue Mar 28, 2000 3:39 pm

If I go with AirTran it might be a DC-9, and $5 is a VERY small price to pay to fly on an airplane instead of that excuse.

Please Don't Bash The DC-9

While the aircraft is getting old, they are still a workhorse of several fleets. You might not like them, but you just can't deny the fact that they're still reliable.

I agree with you that DC-9s are great. Hell they're much better than DC-10s. They have a config of 3x2 only one middle seat. Very good config. With DC-10 2x5x2 I hate that config. I flew on Northwest's DC-10. Horrible!!! I got the middle seat!!! Argh!!!!!! worst of all very small carry on space. Even though DC-9's are cool the 717s are much more better.

New Light

Well, if someone can tell me that it would be a 717 I'd consider it, but it turns out that Delta has a $159 flight which I'm going to take because my friend who's flying down there for the National High School J.V. Debate Tournament is going on that same flight. I think it's a 757. Anyway, no offense to DC-9 fans, I have no doubt that they're good - and certainly better than DC-10s (what isn't?), but better or no they're not takin' me anywhere.
