Thank you, well, we're starting with one flight to each, except for SFO, that'll be two. So we're doin' it the right way, startin' slowly.

If LAS and SFO are double daily, why not LAX?

I guess Independence Air doesn't truly want to go head-to-head with B6 and UA at OAK.

This is just one step close to Indy's demise. Their load factors are crap, and the management runs it like they don't care.. Good luck..

DH would rather go head to head with UA. Nothing changing from when they started. B6 should feel lucky they are targeting UA. B6 would win out over DH, but I doubt B6 would want 6 months of $79 fares on their IAD transcontinental flights.

Talking about demise and you call yourself airlinelover? Everyone else is saying something sensible here, but not you..........you have to start crap talk about demise. I hope you're not an armchair ceo. Do you work for a company? If so, why don't we start talking about its demise. Oh and that 'good luck' at the end of your post............it couldn't seem more fake. Don't talk about demise and then wish us good luck, it makes you very deceitful.

So, the side question is- will the other airlines competing on these routes do anything to answer the new lower fares? A round trip from, say, GSO to SEA that previously would run $375 or so now costs $240ish on Independence...

Whoa, SFO-IAH is a long flight. Which aircraft are they going to use? Good luck to them, it's always nice to get a new airline at SFO.

SFOMEX:

It will be SFO-IAD, not SFO-IAH, and it will be on their Airbus A319s... which they currently have a few of, and I'm sure they'll take delivery of more as the spring rolls on assuming the financial situation holds.

This will help make the load factors better across the system as the connection traffic over IAD. I hope PVD can now fill the 4 (was 8!) IAD flights and possibly get another flight or two.

"Load factors are crap"

Good call. Airlines traditionally lose between 5-10% of CASM during Jan. I've seen the loads for Feb.....STRONG. With the addition of the west coast, all the people on the fence are going to climb aboard. Sorry dude, we're a little better off.

"they don't want to compete against B6"
Of course, WHO DOES?!?!?! We're a year old. They're 6. Although we've been around a LOT longer, people still don't know about our new product. These additions will allow for more people.

Instead of saying piss off...how about good luck?

Cheers,

GMUAirbusA320,
load factors mean nothing when you can book a ow tkt from tpa to las for $64.00....fly outta iad and if you looked hard enough you could have gotten to vegas for $44.00 ow....100% L.F. is nothing with those fares...lets see what kerry is going to charge to get to the west coast now....

Is it just me, or does anyone wonder about the irony of flying two flights a day to SFO and only one to the rest of the new markets announced today? I know VUSA is still a paper airline, but is this making anyone else wonder if any signifigance lays within this?

Aurora, you are raising a moot point by placing the blame of overcapacity on DH.

Just today, AA announced an expansion out of the DFW hub.

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/050207/american_airlines_dfw_4.html

In addition, your own airline just added flights out of the D.C. area.

http://www.usairways.com/about/press/nw_05_0126a.htm

If airlines want fight for market share rather than profits, the blame should be placed on more than one carrier IMO.

I wish this airline the best and I hope they succeed. I flew them yesterday, ORF-IAD-MCO and had a great experience. The employees always had a smile on their face. Their transformation from a regional carrier into a LCC is, of course, a bit "ballsy," but I admire that. The next time I need to get home, I'll visit FlyI.com first.

On the other hand, though, the ORF-IAD flight departed a couple minutes late but it was due to an ATC hold into IAD. We sat at the end of ORF's RWY 5 for about 15 minutes. The departure to MCO from IAD was a few minutes late also due to slow connecting bags from the iJets. Everything else about my trip was great, though! The seatbacks of N806BR (the equip. for IAD-MCO) have the placements for the PTV's ready and I can't wait until they come online.
Change is: one airline, six continents!

that would have been better than SEA or SJC

FlyNavy, don't hold your breath for those PTV's. The PTV's are rumored to have been scrapped as a result of a restructuring clause with debtors and the general inability of the airline to reduce its losses. This is only hearsay- but with Flyi having to absorb huge quarterly losses, it makes sense. Don't get me wrong- I'm a huge fan of Flyi of the excellent inflight product Indy provides. Economically, though, Indy's business plan isn't very viable.

Wow, its great that SAN gets a new airline (its been growing stedily in the last few months), but with JetBlue announcing its SAN-IAD service, and with UA already on the route, realistically can SAN support flights to IAD by three different airlines?

I say, ambitious! We could always use competition at SEA! Now we just need another lowfare to enter the market along the coast (SEA-California), which should make things quite interesting.
