UA Flight 870 At SFO

Wed Feb 09, 2005 6:26 am

Anyone know anything about United's flight 870 at SFO today on the 8th of February. It pushed back and departed off of 01R at about noon and then returned to land a short while later. No emergency or anything of that kind was noted. It taxied to Gate 82 and then pushed back to depart at about 1:15 pm. N174UA a 747-400. 870 hasn't been having too much luck the last day or so. Yesterday 870 was N777UA the newly painted 777. After it pushed back from the gate it needed to return to an engine problem. It was subsequently brought over to the Superbay for work.

United says. . .

Airline: United
Flight: 870
Scheduled departure: 11:50 AM
Actual: 2:43 PM
"Schedule change due to Aircraft Servicing"

I can hear the flight crew on climb out . . .
a) Oops, we forgot to empty the lavs after the 14 hour flight from SYD.
b) Catering - we don't need no stinking catering.
c) Bob, you know you are supposed to change the oil every 3,000 miles.

HNL - There's no place like it!

SFO, HNL-was that a swapped aircraft? According to my schedule, UA870 SYD-SFO-ORD is a scheduled aircraft change, namely a 747-400 on SYD-SFO and a 777-200 on SFO-ORD.

N174UA a 747-400

The first 744 I flew on! On my birthday last year, IAD-FRA. Seat 37A. Amazing takeoff, one of my best flights ever on UA.

Nice to hear about her whereabouts these days, and that she's enjoying summer in Sydney. I'd post my own pictures of my experience on 174UA, but that Photobucket website quality is absolutely terrible, very grainy looking, I'd be ashamed to post them.  Sad

And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!
