Delta 214, EGE-ATL, Fuel Stop In Tulsa?

Thu Feb 10, 2005 11:44 am

Hey everyone,

I was out at TUL today and a Delta 757 made a fuel stop about 3pm today on DL214, Vail - Atlanta. Two questions. Didn't the Delta flight outta EGE used to stop at DEN for fuel before continuing on? Is TUL going to be the new fuel stop on this route from now on and should I expect to see this again? Thanks!

There won't always be a fuel stop. ATL's weather today required extra tanker fuel and that would have greatly effected the performance of the aircraft's takeoff out of EGE. TUL just happened to be in enroute today and that is where DL selected to send it, it could be MEM or any destination on any other day. DL has plenty of options between EGE and ATL.

Although surprisingly strong headwinds caused DL1838 to stop in TUL as well for fuel.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

That explains it, thank you very much, I noticed the MD80 from CVG as well and how it continued onto PHX, I didn't realize that was a fuel stop at the time as well. I got shots of both flights and have uploaded the 757 shot. Thanks for the info!

On July 1st 2004, I saw a DL 763 leaving TUL on 36R around 14:00 - I assumed it was for a fuel stop, and not new widebody service to ATL. These stops must happen more commonly than I realize - great to see some unusual birds in Okla.
