It appears that Bombardier is looking at several different locations to build the C-Series. One possible location is Albuquerque, New Mexico. The other contenders are Belfast, Toronto and of course Montreal. A Bombardier spokesman said that it would cost more money to build the aircraft in Montreal than other facilities. In all Bombardier is looking for a savings from it's Montreal work force of around $120 million.
It seems to me that Bombardier is using the posibility of building the C-Series somewhere else to get concessions from it's workforce. I am surprised that Albuquerque is in the running. When one thinks of aviation one usually does not think of Albuquerque. If they were to build it in the states it seems that Tuscon or Witchita would make more sense. Both cities have current Bombardier facilities and a skilled aviation workforce in place. Something that Albuquerque does not.
