Iberia Officaly Changed Terminals At JFK

Fri Feb 11, 2005 11:48 pm

Hello,

I post with good news!! Iberia has now made the switch at JFK, from departing and arriving into Terminal 8, to now arriving and departing at Terminal 7!

I was aware that Iberia was switching terminals but was not sure when the switch would be made. I was looking at flights for tommarow from MAD-JFK and they show arriving at Terminal 7 so I guess they have made the switch!

I think that the switch was made becuase of the close conection with British Airways.

If Iberia340600 could confirm this news, and maybe bring us some photos of the Iberia planes at Terminal 7??

The next step for Iberia is to change terminals at MAD, which will be a tuff and hard move!

This is also Iberia third terminal change at JFK, they where at Terminal Four first and then to Terminal 8 and then to Terminal 7.

They probably made the switch on Feb 1 - when I flew out of JFK last Sunday Feb 6, the terminal direction signs on the way into the airport already indicated IB would be departing from Terminal 7.

I was at the airport on the 9th and an IB plane was sitting at T7 so it is official but I don't know when they switched because the signs are switched and stuff so...

This has already been discussed. Look at the thread "Iberia At JFK". There it said that the switch would be on the 1st and it was on the 1st.

Are most of the OneWorld Int'l carriers looking to consolidate at T7 at JFK? I noticed in a picture recently, that A CX 346 was parked at that terminal. I would say that it makes sense, given the close proximity of AA in T8 and T9. I wonder if part of the new AA terminal includes secure or better access to T7. Which OneWorld carriers are still in T4 or T1 (if any)? Thanks. Also, do you think that UA will be staying in T7 for a while? I cannot really see where there is room elsewhere for them. However, I am not too familiar with JFK airport.

Yes, CX uses T7. Aer Lingus & LAN (both oneworld) still use T4.

HP also uses T7. Does this mean that HP has to move because of IB?

No, America West will not have to change terminals. The Iberia flights do not really conflit the America West flights, and there or should be some not in use gates at the time of the Iberia flights, I think that IB will use the BA gates?

Fermatra,

I know it was but this is just confriming it.

The question is, will IB stay in T7 after AA opens their new terminal? I think that with the new terminal, it would be much nicer to be in the new terminal and have all the AA connections there with them.

But as stated before, AA's new terminal will open in April, but customs will still be at crappy 8 until the finish the new facility at the new terminal.

AA767400,

I am sure Iberia340600 could answer that question, but I think they are at T7 for a while, they would not make the change if they where just going to be gone for four or five months. I think if they where going to change and move back FY would have probaly done the same thing.

The area in Terminal 8 where Iberias gate is, is the most crappiest waiting lounge in the world!!!!
