Talk About Cramped!

Wed Mar 29, 2000 3:49 pm

When I was planning our flight to Paris, I checked out an airline called Corsair. They operate 747's from LAX to ORY. Their 747-300's seat 580 people! And they have a business class! How is this possible? Can you imagine an 11 hour flight on a plane with 580 people onboard. My goodness.

I couldn't believe it either. Here's the url:

These planes fly international flights. How could 580 people be packed into an 11 hour flight?

That's realy unbelievable. Go to the home-page of this airline. An example to compare: They have A-330-200 with in total 355 seats, 18 of them are business. Swissair has some A-330-200 with only two classes: in total 230 seats, 48 business. Compare! I would never ever choose Corsair.

Hello Folks!

It's not the first time that I read something like this about Corsair.

Corsair is a carrier owned by a french Tour Operator called "Nouvelles Frontières" an equivalent of Club Mediterranée if you know it better. Here in France they are known for puting as much people as they can in their aircrafts.

You have to know that this type of passenger belongs to a certain category of traveller who wants the farest but the cheapest. No surprise then...!!!

One nice thing is their logo!

The way they do it is have a small "business class" on the upper deck of their 747-100, with probably 12-15 seats. On the main deck of the 747, it's all economy seating for about 560 people. The numbers of galley and lavatories are kept to a minumum. Yes, you can pack that many people in there.

In the US, Tower Air does the same thing on their aging 747-100s.

This is what their homepage says about their 747-300:
"580 sièges
dont 36Y et 25C au pont supérieur Classe "Grand Large", service business
Autonomie 12h30/10.000 km "

So they have 36 economy and 25 business class seats only in the upper-deck. I dont want to fly them even if they payed me for it.
