TRACON, when they told you that you needed to take mental and physical tests, are you sure they didn't just mean getting your 1st or 2nd class medical? As far as I know, our school doesn't have any special requirements when it comes to ADD
but don't take my word for it...
I was waiting to get in one of the sims a few months ago and this girl started talking to myself and my instructor and she appeared to have some sort of mental issues (real slow, slurred speech...thoughts were all over the place, etc). Obviously I'm not a doctor, but if this girl was medically able to fly, ADD
should be no factor.
I believe they send you a good information packet when you get accepted about what is required to start flying here along with phone numbers of who to call.
Lastly, the other poster said to tell the complete truth on your medical exams, not just what they want to hear... While this is true, don't take it to an extreme... If you get a headache every now and then, don't check the "chronic headaches" box on the form...The doctors will put you through every kind of test imaginable before you are cleared. I'm not saying to lie, but just be smart. You are planning on doing this for a living, and not passing your medical will put an end to that in a second.
