Continental 735 1st Class Reconfiguration

Sun Feb 13, 2005 3:02 am

So I have read rumors on here for a while that CO was going to yank a row out of 1st on their 735's. During booking of a trip from SFO-IAH I ran across a 735 and the seat map shows this new 2 row F class configuration but still 5-21 in coach. If you book on row 5 hoping for a bulkhead in coach is it possible that your row 5 might just be the second row in coach now?

CO is going from 10/94 config to a 6/108 config on the 735's. As far as the row numbers, I haven't seen what the layout is. Maybe I'll look at work monday and see if I can find out.

Wow. They are adding 14 seats? That is more than two rows of coach. Where are they other 2 seats coming from? Are they changing the current seat pitch (31 in I believe)

6/108 config on the 735's

What is the configuration of F class. One row on left side, 2 rows on right side?
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

It is 2x2, hence the drop from 10 to 6

:: chuckle :: I think that's obvious. He was asking which side of the plane will have 1 row of 2 and which will have 2 rows of 2. Hence 2 + 4 = 6.

looking from back to front. The right side has one row and a closet. The left side has two rows then the bulkhead between the main cabin door and 1st

It's CO's version of MRTC. Sadly, it only means "More Rows Thoughout Coach"...

6 FC seats and a 31 inch pitch? If the long haul ERJ flying from CLE hadn't chased this former Plat Elite away, these kind of changes on the mainline fleet sure would! I moved over to NW, and have been quite happy. I'll take a DC9 over an ERJ any day.

The correct configuration is 6/106 not 6/108

also row 5 will be behind first class row 2

They are removing the bulkhead wall and the seat pocket on the first class seat will be the seat pocket for coach row 5 which will now be closer to the front. Instead of an actuall bulkhead wall there will be what they are calling a "european style class divider".(whatever that means)

Continental always starts coach with row five except when first class has 5 or more rows (example: 737-900 in that case coach starts at row 6)

On the 737-500 reconfigured it will be rows 1-2 first and rows 5-24 coach, All the rows will get re-numbered.

Continental should have the updated seat map for the 737-500 sometime at the end of this month.

Remember that both versions will be flying for some time.
Ships - 616, 630, 642, 644, 645, 650-652, change to (73K) in feb
Thats what they are calling it, the 73K

I can't believe their configuration on the 757-300, F12Y210. Only 12 f/c seats on a 753? Seems odd. Honestly, why bother with a first class section at all on the 737-500?

Maybe CO should look at replacing their B737-500's with the Embraer 190's.
Probably a cheaper airplane to operate.

Older planes are always cheaper to operate than newer ones... (well, almost always, but in this case the 735 would definately be cheeper)

Not really the 737-500's have very high lease payments from what i understand, Larry and Gordon both have said that its the first aircraft that needs to go.

BNATRAVLER: Here's a better one 73K A S H....... If the coach seats are making money why not put more in?

John: The 75-300 is for high density LOW Y I E L D flying pack them in. If the other 12 first class seats were going out empty or with free upgrades why not put in more coach and make money? Hmmmmm, makes sence right?

The 73-500's have very high lease rates and they are far from old. Too bad they can't renegotiate the leasing terms. They are excellent jets!

Doesn't seem worth it a couple extra seats since you have to have a 3rd FA onboard since it will be over 100 seats total now.
