JL 762's

Sun Feb 13, 2005 11:16 am

Quick question: what is the status of JL's 767-200 fleet? The most recent picture of one I can find on the database is dated January 3rd. Have they all been retired or are a few still flying?

Thanks,
Alex

PS. Another picture dated in May 2004 said JL still had three 762's left.

They want to keep them. I know that three of them sound like a really strange decision but it fits in well with their scheduling of China flights from NGO. That is why there is only three but they want to keep them in the fleet.

So the data that you got in May 2004 is accurate, but they just kept all of them. The reason that they have a small fleet is that JL was one of the launch customers for the -300 model (which NH acquired more than JL)

I see them flying out of the international terminal in Fukuoka every so often as well...perhaps on flights to Korea?

The original JAL 767 order was for 9 aircraft with a mix of 200's and 300's. As mentioned they were one of the original 763 customers. The original order split was for 5 762/4 763 (if memory serves) but in the end only 3 762's were delivered.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Is it not HNL that they are flying to?

I know that DC-10's are all back in JL colors but JL can just wet lease them to JO.

I have seen then in service at PEK & HND.

It's quite nice to see them, makes a change from the 763's!!

HNL does not get any 767s from FUK, only DC-10s.

One 762 makes a daily FUK-ICN vv in the morning and a FUK-PVG vv in the afternoon. Another plane seems to do a FUK-HKG vv. rotation. However I'm not very sure if these are 767-200 or -300 series.

A few years ago I flew KIX-HND on a JL 762 (evening flight)
