I was flipping through the channels this evening and stopped on CNBC with Tim Russert who was interviewing Brian Williams. They were on the subject of aviation and Brian was explaining his knowledge and that he listens to a scanner all the time. He said he's got the police and fire, but he loves the aviation. And he said he knows what kind of plane, the configuration, engine manufacturer each time he flies. He mentioned that he daughter doesn't like flying so he tries to ease her. He also talked about how the Air National Guard gave him the controls over the Atlantic once.
So it sounds like if scanners every become illegal in the US or if spotting becomes a major issue we just need to get Brian Williams a heads up and I'm sure he would take our side.
