Virgin Atlantic To ORD

Thu Mar 30, 2000 3:56 am

Thats what i just read on www.justplanes.com.
"The US government has extended the Virgin's access to O'Hare by 2 weeks while leaving up in the air whether the airline will be able to operate its London-Chicago service beyond 16Apr."

What problem does Virgin have with the chicago route?

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I can't believe Virgin would pull out so soon. To invest that much into a market and then leave 6 months later? I do know that BA has at least two flights into and out of ORD every day...Virgin would stay just because of that. Who knows? I still think its just a matter of filing the paperwork/ paying the fees. Would hate to see them go - I haven't even gotten a chance to fly them yet!

Okay, Virgin has a problem because BA and the British Government pulled the plug on PIT-LGW flights. USAirways applied to serve the route but the British Government won't allow it to happen. It was heavily rumored that the US gov't was going to pull VS's slots and kill the route in retaliation. The two week extension is a gesture of good faith that US will recieve the rights for PIT-LGW...else the US govt WILL kill the route.
