RSW Expansion

Tue Feb 15, 2005 2:07 pm

Has anyone been to RSW recently? I was just wondering if anyone knew what the status was of the construction on the new midfield terminal. Thanks everyone!

what are the chances WN will start service to RSW once the new terminal opens? It would almost seem like a great move on their part.

I know the expansion will be a great boost! THe old terminal would get VERY crowded and not fun; especially during the holiday season!

Perhaps we might also see more RSW service from Delta. Comair will already be starting RSW-BDL later this year, and I'd say at least a daily 738 to SLC should also be feasible. A bit far fetched, but Song to LAS might also be an interesting option.

its more expensive to have signatory gates, I believe Spirit tries not to do that unless absolutely necessary; so I doubt they'd have their "own" gates. in RSW they have the ability to use up to 3 gates at a time, if needed, so I don't see why that would or should change if its working now.

here in LAS Sprit shares the gate with Song and Delta and Sun Country, thats just how much Spirits frequency is to everywhere.

In regards to spirit in FLL they use up to I believe 6 gates at a time...Don't they lease atleast 3 of those?

Very interesting thoughts everybody. I bet The DL RSW-BDL flight will be a song flight by next season. I don't know if Southwest would have that many opportunities out of RSW. From RSW, there are already a bunch of carriers that fly to Chicago, AirTran flies to BWI, USAirways and AirTran both fly to PHL, they can't fly to Dallas (Wright Amendment), and I don't know if the demand for a BNA-RSW would warrant 737 flights. Where would you see WN flying to out of RSW? I think a RSW-London flight would do really well.

I agree with the RSW to LHR or LGW idea, with the huge amount of english tourists we get. I believe most of them now fly through MCO or MIA. Does anyone know what the load factors are like on LTU's DUS-RSW and RSW-DUS flights?

I was just down there last week. It looks like jetways have been hung all the way around and an obvious amount of cosmetic work has been done since I was last there in November.
