Major Travel/ticketing Companies (skylink Ect...)

Thu Feb 17, 2005 10:56 am

I have gotten myself in a craze about the "major ticketing/travel " companies. Its a long story but my research so far has lead me only to Skylink(not the airways). Does anyone know other companies that basically do the same thing/ competitors of skylink, ticketing ect... This would be very helpful because its like an obsession and I cant seem to find any info.

IN the US Travelocity, Orbitz, Cheap Tickets.com and Expedia are the three largest with many new start ups coming up in the ranks.

Well i know those ( i live in the US) but im looking at mostly the ticketing company. This is the one that has an agreement with saber and sells tickets to other smaller travel agencies. People that know skylink will know what im talking about. Im just having a hard time trying to find others

Are you just looking for companies in he US?

If not, and if I understand Skylink's role correctly, then I'd say that here in Germany, AER is probably the largest one, though a few others like Sparflug, Frosch and, of course, my own employer - STA Travel - do the same thing: travel agencies send us their bookings through the queues in Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo or Worldspan, we issue the ticket and send it back to them.
