What Will Become Of All The 767's Belonging To NH?

Thu Feb 17, 2005 5:07 pm

NH has a huge fleet of 767's.

The 767-300ER and 300 types are large in the NH fleet. With this being replaced by the 787 in the coming years what will become of them? It is very hard to see them retiring so soon since they acquired a few -300ER's a couple of years ago. Will they go to AC? They seem to be hunting down quite a few but considering that some of these birds are going to be close to 20 years or so when emerging on the 2nd hand market, it is very hard to imagine them going to a carrier such as AC that represents Canada.

Same with the JL 767-300ER. They are trying to phase out the A300-600 from Air System to the 767-300. I know that they only ordered 20 of these birds but are they going to be expansion fleets?

Thanks for any help. I couldn't find so much information on this.

Most of the -300 will be directly scrapped due to accumulated cycles, expect them to start popping up at MHV or MZJ around 2010.
The -300ER will have enough life in them that they will be sold to another carrier. Since the 767 cannot be replaced overnight, it will take at least until middle part of the next decade at the earliest before the 767 disappears completed out of ANA's fleet.

It could be conceivable to see the 744D replaced by the 787-3 on something like a two for one basis when the fourth runway opens up at HND for 2009 and beyond.

If NH is waiting for the 787 before retiring the 763's, then I hardly doubt they will go to AC. By that time, AC will be close to receiving the 787/A350 that we will order later this year.
We are looking for 767's now, not in a few years time.

I don't think that NH will dump all of their 763s at one time. Replacement will be done as needed. Some of the 763s may be transferred over to Nippon Cargo (NCA), as some of the older 763s have already been done.
